Brand Philospophy

When developing our products, children's needs are at the heart of everything we do. Our wooden toys invite children to discover, explore and play creatively, providing long-lasting playtime fun.

We place great importance on quality and safety. Carefully selected materials and child-friendly design form the basis for toys that accompany children through different stages of development.

The Eichhorn story
1940's
  • 1949: Hermann Eichhorn founds the company in his hometown of Egglham in Lower Bavaria. The first products are wooden puzzle cubes. Soon afterwards, Eichhorn invents the first wooden railway.
1950's
  • 1950: Eichhorn becomes the market leader in the wooden toy segment. At peak times, the company employs up to 350 people.
1990's
  • 1998: The SIMBA DICKIE GROUP acquires the company.
  • 1999: The wooden railway is produced in the Czech Republic.
2000's
  • 2005: Heros undergoes PEFC assessment for the first time and receives PEFC certification for the use of wood from forests managed in an environmentally, economically and socially sustainable manner.
  • 2007: Eichhorn expands its range to include garden play equipment.
  • 2008: Eichhorn sells more than 1.7 million puzzles, 400,000 trains and 250,000 packs of wooden building blocks annually. At the same time, the range is expanded to include children's furniture and “Eichhorn Outdoor”.
  • 2008: Eichhorn switches from European PEFC certification to internationally recognized FSC® 100% certification (license number C005308).
2010's
  • 2014: The Heros chain building blocks receive the ToyAward in the Baby & Infant category.
  • 2017: Heros becomes part of the traditional Eichhorn brand. This creates a complete range of wooden toys from a single source.
2020's
  • 2023: Relaunch of the Eichhorn packaging range.
  • 2024: Eichhorn celebrates its 75th anniversary.
  • 2025: The production facility in Lam is sold. Selected Eichhorn products will continue to be sourced from European production.
  • 2025: Launch of the Montessori by Eichhorn product line

Production

Our Eichhorn wooden toys are manufactured to the highest quality standards in Europe and the Far East. We use high-quality woods known for their durability and stability. Many of our products are also FSC® C005308 100% certified. The carefully finished wood gives our toys exceptional quality and a pleasant tactile feel.

Eichhorn wooden toys are manufactured in Europe and the Far East. Our products are subject to defined quality and safety requirements. We use carefully selected woods and materials tailored to the respective products and their requirements.

Many of our wooden toys are also FSC® 100% certified (license number C005308). In these products, the wood used comes from responsibly managed, FSC®-certified forests.
